Born in 1937 in Indonesia. He studied at the Art Students’ League of New York with Sydney Gross, U.S.A. in 1962. The following year he attended Provincetown workshop Massachusetts, U.S.A. He has held many solo exhibitions in countries like USA, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. In 1965 he held his solo show at Ruth Sherman Gallery in New York, USA. In 1971 and 1975 he had solos in the National Library Singapore. “Journeys” was held in 1991 at the National Museum Art Gallery, Singapore and “Journey Continues” at Room at the Top Gallery, Kuala Lumpur. He has also participated in many international group exhibitions in U.S.A., Japan, Australia, Philippines, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Germany, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore from 1965 till now. He has won many awards including the Ford Foundation Scholarship, New York, USA in 1963, Australian Business Council (SABA) and the Australian High Commission Art Award, First Prize, Singapore in 1984 and Solo des Artistes Francais, Silver Medal, France in 1985. He believes that the most important element of his art is the coherent combination of inspirations.
