Born in 1946 in Singapore. He graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Art in 1967. Among his recent participation in group exhibitions in 2004 are “Asean-Japan Art Exhibition” in Bangkok, “Crossing Borders” by the Culture Society, Singapore and “Japan-Singapore Art Exchange” G.A.M. Art Exhibition, Singapore. In 2005 he took part in the NAFA 65th Anniversary Art Exhibition. Master painter Dr. Chen Wen Hsi was his first teacher who introduced him to the basics of painting. In 1967, he enrolled with NAFA where he was exposed to western fine art. He took a 25-year break from art before he re-introduced himself into the art scene in 2002. The first series of work Simon put together was called “Here and Now”, an observation of how inner energies blend with the physical world as in the art of Qigong. Out of this came titles of his works like “Transformation”, “Totality” and “Intimacy”. Simon feels his work is a way of sharing with others on how we can experiment with our own creativity using art as a safe avenue just as writers express their feelings in the form of words.
